Preparation

The light custardy texture of these french toast sticks combined with the crunchy cinnamon sugar is reminiscent of a churro or beignet. Kids love any excuse to use their hands. Ditching the fork and knife in favor of thick batons make them extra fun for little fingers to dip into maple syrup.

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 1-inch by 2 to 3-inch thick sticks. In a wide shallow bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Melt half of the butter in a HexClad 12" Hybrid Fry Pan over medium heat until foaming. Dip each stick into the egg mixture, turning to coat all sides. Working in batches, add the dipped sticks in a single layer into the pan and cook, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden and crisp, about 5 minutes total, adding extra butter as needed. Toss warm, cooked sticks into the cinnamon-sugar mixture and toss to coat. Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining sticks and egg mixture. Serve with fresh fruit and maple syrup.
