12 Must-Try Holiday Recipes
Ready to mix up your holiday menus? We tapped our favorite collaborators and influencers to glean their tastiest recipes. Make them over the course of the holiday season as you spin the dreidel, trim the tree, open the advent calendar or do whatever it is you do to celebrate. There’s no "wrong" way to do the merry season.
APPS AND SNACKY THINGS
1. Jasmin Mhetawi’s Baked Greek Feta
Baked feta is the holiday appetizer you didn’t know you were missing–but really, it’s time you found out. In this simple app, the cheese bathes in a rosemary-scented tomato and olive mixture and bakes until creamy. All that’s left for you to do is scoop bites onto toasted crostini made from your homemade sourdough.
2. Tianna Gee’s Deviled Eggs with Crispy Chicken Skin
If a universal ranking of the best party apps exists, deviled eggs would make the top bracket. A crispy garnish of chicken skin would help clinch the top spot. If you prefer a vegetarian-friendly version, nix the chicken skin and fish sauce, and you still have a fantastic deviled egg.
3. Joanne Molinaro’s Chestnut & Vegan Sausage Pull-Apart Stuffed Biscuits
Few appetizers get the party started quite like biscuits. These plant-based pull-apart cuties are stuffed with a mixture of mushrooms, vegan sausages, chestnuts and pecans—all folded into biscuit dough. After stuffing and baking the biscuits in your 12-inch Hybrid Fry Pan, pull out the center biscuit (and eat it, obvi) and set out a bowl of the spicy-sweet soy dipping sauce. It’s a great, hearty way to begin your holiday festivities.
MAINS
4. Gordon Ramsay’s Stuffed Rib of Beef
Is there anything more celebratory than channeling Gordon Ramsey for your holiday celebration? We think not. His stuffed rib roast takes the British Sunday roast to new heights. Layer a three-rib beef roast with a garlicky spinach-and-mushroom stuffing and roast it alongside carrots and parsnips for a main-and-side combo that will have your guests oohing and ahhing.
5. Boyd Brown III’s Oven-Roasted Garlic and Herb Salmon
A gorgeous side of salmon is a dreamy holiday main dish, whether you’re celebrating the Feast of the Seven Fishes or simply want a pescatarian centerpiece. This easy recipe comes from Seattle-based chef Boyd Brown III, who marinates the fish in a garlicky citrus spice mixture before baking it for just 25 minutes in the Hybrid Roasting Pan.
6. Hayden Quinn’s Grilled King Prawns with Sticky Tamarind Chili Glaze
A grilled main is ideal during the busy holiday season when the kitchen is taken over by guests and other cooking projects. It’s easy to make these spicy, lacquered prawns: Simply grill them in your Hybrid BBQ Grill Pan while basting them with a spicy tamarind glaze. They’re great served over rice with steamed greens or as a finger-licking app.
7. Javeria Shah’s Chicken Biryani
There are certain dishes that justify long ingredient lists, and this delicious chicken biryani recipe (the ultimate, according to Javeria Shah) is just the one. The tender marinated chicken, fragrant rice and fried onions combine in a hearty dish that’s perfect for big family gatherings.
8. Alexander Villena Hermoza’s Vegan Lasagna
For the ultimate comfort food turned vegan, look no further than this recipe for plant-based lasagna, featuring both plant-based ground “meat” and mushrooms for a hearty filling. Build the red, white and green feast in your Small Roasting Pan, alternating layers of homemade vegan béchamel, a vegan take on classic ragù, spinach and noodles. (Looking for something similar that’s not vegan? Try this meaty version, instead.)
SIDES
9. Zoya Biglary’s Persian Fall Herb Salad
Zoya Biglary knows her way around a flavorful dish, and this bright and fresh salad is a prime example. Adorn peppery arugula with a shower of herbs, sweet-tart pops of color from blood orange and pomegranate seeds and toasty notes from pistachios and toasted pita strips. A sprinkle of feta cheese adds salty richness to every bite. It’s a gorgeous, celebratory salad that pairs well with dishes from seared steak to roasted chicken to baked salmon.
10. Alessandra Ciuffo’s Pommes Aligot
Mashed potatoes, meet cheese. This ultra-decadent French-inspired take on mashed potatoes features both Gruyère and mozzarella, resulting in a cheesy, starchy side that will earn a repeat spot on next year’s table.
11. Chetna Makan’s Spiced Herby Hasselback Butternut Squash
This clever twist on hasselback-style potatoes features halved butternut squash. It’s easy to do: Start by halving a butternut squash lengthwise and scooping out the seeds. Then, slice through the flesh (leaving a little bit of space so the squash pieces stay attached in one piece) and brush the veg with a spicy harissa oil. It couldn’t be lower-effort with a higher reward quotient, and we are here for that.
DESSERT
12. Sam Holland’s Sticky Toffee Pudding with Spiced Rum Toffee Sauce
There are few better Christmas desserts (or pudding, as the Brits call it) than the sticky toffee variety. Sam Holland’s rendition of the classic infuses the dates (which give the cake its stickiness) with Earl Grey tea for a touch of floral flavor. Don’t sleep on the Spiced Rum Toffee Sauce, which should be doubled and saved for off-the-cuff ice cream sundaes. P.S. The recipe calls for self-rising flour but you can substitute equal parts all-purpose flour and add in 1½ teaspoons baking powder and ¼ teaspoon freshly ground sea salt.
Holiday traditions are great, but so is mixing things up. This year, we're all about new dishes, good company and even better vibes–no rules, just great eats.
