Few cocktails carry the same timeless appeal as a Manhattan with its simple mix of whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters. A cherry garnish adds just the right finishing touch. Purists reach for rye whiskey, with its smoky bite, but bourbon brings a smoother, rounder edge.

  1. Fill a rocks glass with one large ice cube or 2/3 full with smaller ice cubes.

  2. Combine rye and vermouth in the HexClad Cocktail Shaker and fill shaker with ice. Using a cocktail spoon, vigorously stir cocktail mixture and ice until very well chilled, about 30 seconds.

  3. Strain cocktail into prepared glass. Add bitters. Skewer cherry and orange zest, if using or drop garnish directly into glass.
